Do you have a dream client list?
Not everyone is your dream client. If you do not define who is your dream client you will never find them. When you cannot find them you cannot serve them. The fact is, if you do not focus on finding the dream client you will be stuck with clients who not just pay less but also ask more.
Before you get this wrong let me get this right for you. Your client list and your dream client list are two different lists that you must always define and refine.
At the beginning of the year, most people defined a client list and work on it rigorously. They start to serve these clients and get busier. Soon they realize that these clients are not the one they wanted to work with or dreamed of working with. They struggled to keep their aspirations high as these clients take more and give less.
What went wrong? You probable define a client list but you did not take time to define a dream client list hence you end up catering to anyone and everyone.
What can a dream client list do to you?
Recently, I met a young fashion designer a month back. He was frustrated and upset about his busy life. He was putting the hard work but not making enough money. During the conversation I asked him, “Who is your dream client? Who are those 2-3 people that you would like to serve?”
After thinking for some time he said, “I would love to work with few Tollywood Stars”
I said, “that’s an amazing dream client to work with.”
He had never thought of working with a dream client like a Tollywood Star earlier, because he was busy working with others who demanded more and paid less. His passion was turning into poison.
During our conversation he instantly realized that he had all the resources and best of things to serve many of the Page3 celebrities. In just an hours’ time he shared the list of 10 dream clients he would like to work with. We created a strategy and he decided to implement the strategy in the next 3 months.
Last week he shared, that he could close a deal with 2 of the Page3 celebrities. Now, that’s the power of having a Dream client.
First step to achieving anything is defining it. A dream client can be, an organization or an individual or a location.
Today, take time to design your dream client list. Plan and define a strategy to find them and serve them.
