Do You Want To Succeed At Everything!
“Some people can just succeed at anything!” Have you heard this somewhere? Midas Touch that’s what they call it, the ability to turn anything one touches into gold.
Is it possible for some people to succeed at anything? Is it possible that you can succeed at anything you wish to? Yes, only if you know and are willing to apply the exact strategies used by successful people. Most successful people have similar strategies and the likely hood of you succeeding at anything be higher when you choose to apply these proven strategies in your everyday life. Let’s begin and examine what these strategies are.
Strategy No 1: They Allow themselves To Succeed
On your path to succeed the biggest enemy you have to fight is none other than “YOU”.
Most people refuse to believe in their potential, their dreams and the endless possibilities that they have. One knockdown and they stop taking any step forward. Instead, they now become the biggest roadblock of their own success. Succeeding at everything is a game of losing more number of times and refusing to give up until winning at everything becomes the only choice.
If you are facing a closed door, a detour, or a roadblock don’t be discouraged. It’s only there to protect you from taking a road you are not yet prepared to travel.
If you truly want to allow yourself to succeed, Stop Saying – I Don’t Know and start making decisions. I don’t know is actually not a state of not knowing, it is a state where you are refusing to take the decision. Decisions are the only pathway to succeed at anything you want. Right decisions at the right times are essential for your success. Delayed decision cause you regrets and reduce your speed and probability to succeed.
Action: Stop being your own roadblock and allow yourself. Develop your decision making muscle.
Strategy 2: They Master The Power Of Influence
Someone once asked me, “What would be that one strategy which you cannot ignore and is a MUST for anyone to succeed?” and my answer was and is “Your ability to influence”. Today, knowingly or unknowingly you are influencing others and are getting influenced by others. This is one such invisible force that you cannot ignore. Every successful person is a strong influencer and every one who can influence can become successful. Great leaders in the history and in the business have mastered the power of influence.
You will be able to unleash your power to influence anyone when learn to master the art of connecting with people and leverage the power of emotions.
If you examine everyone who has influenced you, they have the unique ability to connect with you. They take time to first connect and then convey. This is true whether you are in sales, or you are a student or an employee. Many call it the ability to build rapport. An additional step to understanding this is also to know how much are you connected. Do you interact with people from multiple walks of life? Do you expand your horizon of thinking by connecting with several people or confine yourself to limited people?
The second important thing is to learn to develop emotional mastery. To gain emotional mastery, one must be willing to become vulnerable. We are taught not to be too expressive as people are judging you. Emotions have the ultimate power only when we learn to utilize everything it indicates. Our learned behavior makes us pretend, avoid and compete with our own emotions and hence most often times we lose our power to influence. Influencing requires one to manage their emotions and also the emotions of others.
Real influence is when we are willing to travel the path even before we talk about the path!
Action: Interact with more people and develop mastery over your emotions.
Strategy 3: They focus on Creating & Contributing Not On Competing
Do you spend time competing or do you spend time in creating something new and contribute back to the world where we belong to?
You succeed at anything only when you create something which is bigger than you when you have a sense of purpose and a vision to create and contribute something beyond you. On the contrary, when you compete most often times you operate from the need of being right or better than someone else. This is when you lose your power. When you believe in creating something new and contributing you operate from a principle of abundance. You believe that there is enough for each one of us and it is important that the flow continuous.
You do not hold back but believe in spreading what you have with others. When you hold back you hold your power to succeed at everything. Remember, successful people, are always looking for an opportunity to help others not thinking what’s in it for me.
You can have everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want – Zig Ziglar.
Action: Synergy creates energy. Always, focus on creating and contributing. Make Contributing as part of your every day to-do.
Strategy 4: They Are Ready To Get Kicked
Every master would have remained a disaster if he would not have found a master.
Why must you have a mentor?
First, most of us dream and talk a lot about what we can do but when it is time to act fear takes over. That’s exactly the time when we need the kick in the butt. Nothing moves unless we take action. A mentor shows you the path and empowers you with the right beliefs and necessary caution in the path to success. Second, as you succeed it is very easy to become comfortable with what you have accomplished. Comfort is the enemy of champions.
A mentor guides you through the path when he feels it is becoming too comfortable for you. He makes you stretch and taps into your higher capabilities. Most importantly, you cannot think of figuring it out everything by yourself. Experience is an invaluable tool. Experience is only earned and shared. A great mentor will share their experience with you to help you succeed in the best possible way.
Action: Let finding a mentor be your highest priority. Be willing to get mentored.
